Welcome to Loughborough District Scouts place on the World Wide Web!

Photo of the District Commissioner

Many times I see in the news youth groups asking for volunteers and people to come forward otherwise “Our group will close!”

Well, we are not asking you to come forward to volunteer because our groups will close, because, quite frankly, they won’t, however what will happen if you volunteer is this:

· At least six more young people aged 6 – 18 will be able to join Scouting thanks to you

· You will get loads of satisfaction from Scouting as you share your skills and knowledge with young people

· You will get loads of satisfaction from Scouting as you watch young people grow and learn

· You will be given a clear role in Scouting with flexible volunteering opportunities

· You will be given a line manager and a training advisor to help you every step of the way

· You will learn new skills and be able to take part in an adult training scheme linked to the Institute of Leadership and Management, Open College Network Awards and Institute of Training and Occupational Learning

· You will gain your own badges, qualifications and long service awards

· You could also have the opportunity to gain National Governing Body Awards in canoeing, archery, fencing, sailing, climbing and many more outdoor and adventurous activities

· You will make new friends, at least 32 million of them across the world!

· You will have the opportunity to travel not only in the UK but overseas

· You will be able to add all this to your CV

· You may get to meet Bear Grylls

· And you may even get to meet the Duchess of Cambridge!

Scouting has a strong history in Loughborough, it will not close but it can get bigger with your help and you will benefit with our help! The first group in Loughborough was opened in 1908. The District, a collection of groups, was formed in 1911.

Loughborough District covers, Castle Donington, Lockington, Hemington, Kegworth, Diseworth, Long Whatton, Worthington, Osgathorpe, Breedon, Belton, Hathern, Shepshed and Loughborough.

There are over 50 section meetings a week for young people aged 6 -25, there is a place for everyone. C’mon, be part of the history and be part of the Adventure!

Call 0845 643 0159 or use this contact form. We look forward to hearing from you.

Many Thanks

Colin Laws
District Commissioner
