Sectional helpers at Thorpe Acre Scouts, Ian Wardle and Matthew Moore, worked with the Great Central Railway to arrange a day of project work for their scouts to help them gain the Heritage Badge.
On Saturday 1 Aug, Thorpe Acre spent the day working with staff at Quorn station to carry out some preservation work on the station.
The scouts first started painting an old railway van body, which is used by the railway staff, until the heavens opened and stop play.
Seeking shelter from the rain, the scouts then took up their sandpaper and began preparing the old station entrance gates for re-painting.
The group were also joined on the station by David Smith, Group Scout Leader from 4th Shepshed, who was doing his bit by manning the tea room.
The scouts completed a tour of the 1940ís railway station followed by a quiz and all of those who attended achieved a well earned Heritage Badge.
Special thanks goes to Jenny Langford, Thorpe Acre Cub Scout Leader, for overseeing the day; and to the Quorn Staff of the Great Central Railway for their support.
